2023 Halliday Wine Companion Reviews are out

 In Vine News, Wine

We are excited to see reviews with 4 of our 5 wines published on the Halliday Wine Companion with scores of 90+:

Pierrepoint Wines Sparkling Pinot Gris 2019 (Sold Out) – SILVER 91

“This is lively. It almost tastes like prosecco, but with extra drive, weight and presence. It’s all apple and spice, pear and citrus, with wafts of sweet pastry and florals. Quite delicious.”
Campbell Mattinson – Published 29 July 2023

Pierrepoint Wines Alexandra Chardonnay 2021 – SILVER 94

“Glowing yellow in colour but fresh (and rich) on the palate. This is an intriguing wine. It tastes of popcorn and grilled peach, sweet peas and cedar, and then honeysuckle and lime through the finish. All the while it feels zippy enough, before finishing long.”
Campbell Mattinson – Published 30 June 2023

Pierrepoint Wines Pinot Noir 2021 (Sold Out) – SILVER 92

“Organically grown, fermented in concrete, 10% whole bunches. Made by Owen Latta. Sometimes the word ‘backward’ is a positive, and it is here. The flavours of this wine are not upfront and need a bit of coaxing, but give them time to evolve and they should blossom. Macerated red cherry, mint, citrus blossom, roasted cedar and undergrowth characters, combined with firm-ish tannins, point to a positive future.”

Pierrepoint Wines Lacey Dessert Pinot Gris 2019 – SILVER 90

“It smells of wet stones and concrete, which doesn’t really prepare you for the lushness of the palate. It’s alive with melon, pear and honeyed flavours, a general sweetness apparent but not excessively so. Indeed this tastes both fresh and attractive from start to finish.”
Campbell Mattinson – Published 28 March 2023

Pierrepoint Wines Nicks Pick Pinot Gris 2021 (Sold Out) – SILVER 93

“Aged in old French oak. Straw in colour and primed with yellow stone fruit and pear flavours, edging into honey that’s edging into woodsmoke. It’s fresh to the point of raciness and yet it’s complex and flavoursome, too. Not for guzzling, for contemplating.”
Campbell Mattinson – Published 7 February 2023
