Wine News 2019
Our Wine Stocks will be boosted with the imminent arrival of the 2018 Alexandra Chardonnay made by our talented Winemaker, Scott Ireland. (“From our early genesis to today, Provenance has existed to achieve the one simple goal: to make great wines that reveal the fruit quality of special vineyards” Visit Provenance Wines). The chardonnays have scored 91 & above by James Halliday with the 2016 vintage scoring 95.
Demand has been very high for our Pinot Noir and, as with the 2016 vintage, the 2017 sold out prior to the new vintage being available. We are very excited to announce that the 2018 vintage has just been bottled so after settling for a couple of weeks, this new vintage will be available for tasting at the cellar door. This wine was made by a Hamilton Winemaker, Jackson Brooke, using the facilities at Tarrington Winery. Jackson completed a number of vintages with renowned Winemaker, Dominique Portet in the Yarra Valley. Having operated from the Tarrington Winery for many years, Jackson is moving his equipment to a Winery in Sunbury to operate his growing business from. (Visit Jackson Brooke Wine) Only 60 cases have been made so again, this wine will sell out very quickly. James Halliday’s Pinot scores have averaged 93.
The last of the 2016 Sparkling Pinot Gris (a silver medal winner at the Sydney Royal Show) is now available in limited supply. In 2017, the Pinot Gris harvest was unusually low; the next vintage of sparkling will be the 2018. Pierrepoint Sparkling, being made in the traditional “methode champenoise” at the renowned Kilchurn Winery will be available during March. “The production of sparkling wine is one of the more complex ways to make wine. It requires specialist equipment, expertise and patience” (Visit Kilchurn Wines)
Still available is the 2016 Late Harvest Pinot Gris (Score 91 – JH).
Looking forward to providing you with quality wines from a family operated Western Victorian Business!
